Have you considered Counseling? The stress and struggles of everyday life, especially given current times, make us wonder about happiness.  How do I get to happiness?   Working with a counselor that can really hear you and support positive change in your life is worth exploring. The experience of "contentment" on a regular and consistent basis leads to a feeling of overall happiness.   Examining expectations, unlearning ineffective coping skills and developing more productive and positive thought processes and emotional responses to life's events, in addition to taking stock of things for which we feel grateful, helps increase contentment.   Big upward moves in finances and newer toys to entertain and occupy our time are not true happiness builders.  What are your goals?  Find a healthy supportive relationship, improve a current relationship, reduce stress and anxiety, reduce anger and/or depression, improve health, make healthier choices, be more productive, find more fulfilling employment? You may feel you are in the middle of life circumstances beyond your doing and control, causing feelings of frustration and resentment!  Contentment is possible despite our life circumstances. Many have coping skills from earlier in life that are not effective, which contributes to limited success in making positive changes.  Older coping skills no longer serve us and when they are examined, it is possible to explore healthier and more effective coping skills that lead to the positive change you seek. Attaining contentment/happiness is possible!  Changing behaviors, thought processes, gaining insight, healing and transforming our perspectives about ourselves, others, and life is where we begin.
